I got to know John in recent years; I would encounter him either in Bushy Park or on Fortfield Road where he walked almost every day.
He took great joy in talking about his younger days, growing up in Ballinsaloe, his early days working for the bank in Kerry and his love of his family.
He was like a ray of sunshine; always cheerful and always sure to give you a few laughs. He was a true gentleman and he will be greatly missed by everyone.
May he rest in peace.
