I met John last Christmas day in Calvary cemetery, we introduced our selves, and spent the next couple of hours chatting away about family,etc, he knew my parents (RIP) from years ago, and was telling me all about them when they were kids growing up. So sorry to hear of John`s passing. I have not seen him for a long time but I knew him well in my working days. I first saw him when we were very young lads. He would come to the ESB entrance in Drybridge with his father Jimmy, who constructed the cut stone gate into the ESB station. Jimmy was a master stone mason. Next time you are on the old Slane road just take a moment. Long before modern machine mass production Jimmy had to cut and face those stones by hand and they still look the essence of perfection after over 70 years. John went on to be a first class carpenter and builder - as the saying goes he did not lick it off the ground. Our deepest condolences to Vincent and all of John`s family. May he rest in peace.

I've many happy memories of all the childhood visits where your Mam baked the best buns and your Dad was always ready for a lift home. It's sad how we somehow forget to remember lots of the good times of our childhood until times like this, and visits to your home were always filled with warmth and love.
