Oh John
I remember sitting in the sun (The Sunlight of the Spirit you called it at the time)with you during a difficult time in my life and I was looking for hope and boy did you give me hope,books,calls lifts,friendship,guidance and I was almost jealous of the person you were at that moment but I couldn’t because you were the person I was hoping I could be and although I will never reach your heights you taught me so much as you were a natural polite understanding patient, loving ,calm gentleman.
Love you brother ,and your lovely family who were your life must be so sad and also so amazed how you affected so many.

I only met John for the first time last May. He was immediately likeable, straight talking and friendly, and I was struck by his courage and calm dignity dealing with his illness. I hoped and prayed he would recover and I feel very sad that didn't happen. Whenever I light a candle for deceased family members and friends I will, always, remember John too. Sympathy to his family, and to all, whose lives he touched.

I feel grateful for the friendship we had over the last ten years, and particularly for the time we spent together in your final months. I was so sorry to hear of John’s passing. I have such fond memories of him from the days I spent with Tracy and Carol in the Cullen household on Haddington Road, when he was first dating Carol.
