I used to enjoy our chats - he had such a broad knowledge: music, philosophy, psychology, cultures of the world -John had such a store of experiences and knowledge. And always a gentleman. We will miss you. Rest In Peace John.

John, our pal. Everyone's pal. Truly saddened to hear of his passing, he had so much life to live. And my goodness, did he make the most of it! I loved hearing his tales of his adventures, going off on the bike, planning his next trip. He always had an interesting slant on all things, so interesting to talk to, always enjoyed our chats. He will be terribly missed by all at Grange Castle. My sincere condolences to his family.

I had the privilege of meeting John for the first time approximately seven or eight years ago. We both attended the Cronerista singing sessions held every month in Inchicore. John was a marvellous artist and any piece he did whether it was a song or poem he gave it his own unique version. I always looked forward to his company. John my you rest in peace.

Our friendship with John dates to 1975 and 1987 respectively. Saw little of him in recent years, but so many fond memories of shared moments in years past. House visits, parties, gigs, trad sessions, excursions, innumerable coffees in Bewley’s of Westmoreland Street, many many spirited discussions. John had an opinion about everything and was never reluctant to voice it. Whether we agreed or disagreed, we could always be sure that the opinion was his own, not someone else’s that he was repeating. Our deepest sympathies to his family. Fare thee well, John, you lived life to the full.

John Brennan, well what a lovely man!! He used to stop by my desk for as long as I can remember, and chat to me about me about everything and anything, (I'm sure everyone says that about him). But mostly he would ask me about drawing and painting as he knew that I loved to draw. Such an incredibly personable man and kind and thoughtful. He would tell me about his travels and interests and what he’d been up to. I remember one time he noticed that I was feeling really low – just saw it in my face – and was so caring to me. He had so much time for everyone. I will miss him truly. I caught up with him a few months ago in work, and having been working from home for so long, it lifted me a lot to see him. So glad that I got to see him as recently as that. John, thanks for all your time and sharing and friendship. You were a diamond, a true gent xxx

I’m deeply saddened to hear of the passing of John. Everyone in GC knew John and he always had time for a chat always had a story to tell. He was someone who lived life to the full and impacted people in a positive way. He will be greatly missed. The place will not be the same without him. I will miss the chats and stories. RIP John.
