John BURKE

Our hearts are heavy with sadness and shock on hearing of the sudden passing of our wonderful neighbour and good friend…John Burke. May he rest in peace .

We extend our deepest sympathies to Aine, Eithne, Martin Una, their partners and families, Brian Reynolds Niamh, Anna and Mark. John’s sisters, Sr Nora, Nancy, Brigid., all John’s extended family.

John was such a pillar of our community, so knowledgeable, practical
generous and kind.
His humor and smile and presence will be so sadly missed.
May he be happy in his heavenly home now as he reunites with his beloved wife Tina and beautiful daughter Fiona.

Knowing John Burke was one of the best things in life. There was none more generous, more wise, more thoughtful, and more fun.

His model of approaching life is something I try to carry. Don’t give up, keep learning, try something new, and get outside.

As a person from the city, John taught me about things I would never have known….cattle, landscapes, trees, heritage. He treated dozens of my students with the utmost courtesy and respect, and welcomed them.

I’m lighting a fire outside tonight and looking at the stars.
