On the 2nd of January, I was thinking intensely about my late friend Katie and her passing ten years ago. Now we are so sad to read that John, her husband, has decided to be reunited with her on exactly that day.
John was our landlord for many years in Beach Grove, but moreover, he was a good friend. In the nearly 14 years since we moved abroad, he was constantly in contact with us, telling us news from Laytown. We will miss him so very much. Our thoughts are with John´s family. We are blessed to have known John and Katie and to have had them as true friends in our lives. Marina and John, Kefalonia, Greece

John was not only a close friend for many decades, but also my Best Man at my wedding. A true gentleman and character. We will miss his voice at the other end of the telephone.

Occasionally, I spoke to John in Castleblayney where we were visiting the graves of our beloved departed family members,I sensed a goodness in the man and also a sadness,he kept his wife's grave in wonderful order.May he be in eternal peace and joy and I pray for those who miss him.

So saddened to hear of John's passing. When our daughter and son-in-law & family moved to Beach Grove, his welcoming, helpful, kind manner helped them settle into the community...a truly good neighbor and friend.
We enjoyed many a times sitting at the table drinking coffee while John -with a twinkle in his eye -reminisced about distant lands.

It is with great sadness we learned of John’s passing. He was a a most welcome patron of the restaurant amongst both staff and regular customers. In all weathers John would enjoy a break on his walk and share the company of others with his views and insights on all subjects and we will miss that greatly.
