JOHN BUTLER

We were very sad to learn of our dear friend Johnny’s untimely death. We got to know him when we lived in Ireland in the early 2000s. On returning to Australia he remained a loyal and constant friend. We always looked forward to catching up with Johnny when we holidayed in Cork and Waterford. A highlight for us was when he visited us in Brisbane 2014? He was very witty and good company. We extend our sincere condolences to the Bulter family. May he Rest In Peace.

I new John over the years in An Post as Head Postmaster Clonmel and the Area Office Limerick. A gentleman.

So sad to say goodbye to a great friend and gentleman. I think of the many hiking trips John embellished with his sharp wit, humorous grumblings and warm friendship. I also remember with gratitude the occasions when John gave up his free time to help me, and all his friends, when we needed him. So many memories, so many laughs. We lost him too soon. So sad to hear about Johnny's unexpected passing at Christmas time. Johnny played front row on a very good Waterpark side before joining us in Waterford City RFC in the mid 1990s on a team coached by the great John O Neill RIP for a few years before retiring. An honest committed and humble team player.
Spent many years with him also in weight based fitness classes in Kingfisher which he really enjoyed and rarely missed . A very popular friendly gentle person . Rest in Peace Johnny.

Don't know where to start really. What an absolute gent Johnny was. I cannot believe he is gone. We had many a great night through the 90s usually three of us ending up In the Hi-b until all hours. Always up for a laugh and a slagging match, with me at the wrong end. I hadn't seen Johnny for a while but always considered him one of my great friends. So sorry to Elaine and all the family. Rest easy my friend.
