John was a mighty man who it was a privilege to know and to work with together on the Lismullin Conference Centre project - a project dear to his heart. It was with profound sadness that I learned of Johns passing .I met John in 2006 in connection with the Lismullin agri conference which was integral to John's life as a farmer who wished to equip his fellow farmers with the knowledge they needed for success.It was an absolute privilege for me to be amongst his many friends since first we met and I have to say the world is is a lesser place now that he is no longer with us. He was a saintly kind honest hardworking man and a gentleman in every sense of the word to boot. May he rest in peace. Philip Maher Carrigaline Co Cork

Sincere condolences to all John's family. As many others have said, he was a true Christian gentleman. It was on the occasions of the Annual Farming Seminars in Lismullin that I most often met him and the high esteem in which he was held by members of the farming community was plain for all to see. He was always so grateful for any small bit of help. It was an absolute pleasure to be in his company. I watched his funeral Mass on the parish webcam today and it was very moving.
