From a [Grave] clan member which John was a member of.
I am deeply sorry for the loss. John was always cheerful and full of jokes. We loved and respected him. Tournaments would always be played in elevated spirits when John was with us. It was really not like him to not talk to us for prolonged period of time, we sensed that something is of.
Rest In Peace Commander.
Till next time, teammate.

Condolences to all John's family and friends at this awful time. I was on the GBI cycle team for the Paris to Dusseldorf cycle in 2013 with John and other Vodafone colleagues. There were lots of very funny and light hearted memories/moments with John during the highs and lows of those 6 days in the bike through France, Luxemburg and into Dusseldorf. John was a genuine kind person who always had time to chat (and have a laugh) in the office. May he rest in peace.
Very sad to hear the news of John's death.

Since I first met John at a meeting a few years ago, I was struck by his courtesy, gentleness, goodness & wit and, of course, his lovely Scottish accent.

With heartfelt sympathy to his wife Bya, children & extended family.

My friend and pal, John,

Let’s raise a glass, but not in gloom,
John filled the world with light, not doom.
With ready wit and boundless cheer,
He made the heavy disappear.

He roamed far wide from Glasgow’s ground,
Embraced the joys of life he found.
A friend, a father, warm and bright,
He saw the good and shared the light.

No need for grand or solemn airs,
He’d much prefer a laugh than prayers.
So here’s his gift—fond thoughts remain,
Of kindness, wit, and love; there is no refrain.
A true Gentleman
May God bless you John and support your family in this most difficult time
