I was deeply saddened to hear of John’s passing. He was one of life’s true gentlemen—always in good spirits and always ready to lend a hand. He will be missed by so many. My sincere condolences to Gail and all the Coman family. May he rest in peace

The shocking news of his passing has made me realise what a privilege it was to spend a few years in secondary school with John. When he joined our year, he brought something unique, hard to explain, but well described in all the wonderful tributes here.
Our paths diverged after school but not before John loaned me a jacket for a work interview that determined my career. The gesture, thoughtful and helpful, and the jacket itself, clean-cut, sporty and dapper were John to a tee.

I first met John during our schooldays though our mutual friend Aido McNulty We were at TCD together and later met through work over the years.

John always greeted you with a big smile and was always great fun to be with. A fantastic storyteller and always in good form.

Sincerest condolences to Johns family who he adored. I had the great pleasure of working on Team JJC for Johns latter years at ALG. He was a fantastic boss and later friend and mentor. I have a lifetime of learnings and memories with John and his team from unpredictable team gatherings/events loaded with laughter and debate - gruelling work negotiations - singing in the ALG choir to post retirement Team JJC catch ups with only the best of wine.
