John Corrigan

I am so sorry that I missed John’s funeral as I only heard the sad news this week. My sincere condolences to Antoinette and all John’s family. He was very proud of you all.
I had the honour of working quite closely with John from 2001 to 2009 as a Commissioner of the NPRF. John brought such expertise, integrity and intelligence to his key leadership role, qualities which he also brought to bear for us all during the financial crisis. I was happy to have had occasional contact with John over the years since then - every contact brought interesting insights and the real pleasure of being with a great person.
I hope that your own memories of John and the respect in which he was held are of some comfort to you at this difficult time.

I only heard the sad news of John's passing yesterday. I had enormous respect for John's opinion and would consult him every few months - even years - on a matter that concerned me. His advice was always top-drawer, which is why I admired him so much. Ireland has lost one of its finest sons.

I first met John in the IPA School in 1968, 55 years ago. He was working in the OPW at that time and I was in the Dept of Labour. I was immediately struck by John's great intellect and his warmth as a human being. We both subsequently joined the Dept of Finance, but our subsequent careers took us in different directions. However, anytime that I met him in the intervening years he was still the same John with all of the same qualities. He served our country very well in everything which he did and achieved.
