So sorry to hear of John's (Sean to us) passing. The Funeral Mass (on line) was a lovely celebration of his life and the eulogy was one of the best I've ever heard - befitting one of life's real characters. Sadly, I haven't seen Sean for a long time but I can clearly remember him staying with us (Esther and Jack) while he was playing for Swindon.

I have just heard of the sad passing of John. My condolence to Breda and family. I first met John in the 1950's when he played under 14 schoolboy football for Johnville and i played for Home Farm. We became long time friends and met on many occassions over the years. May he rest in Peace.

My heart breaks for the family of this "man", this "legend", this "gentleman" John Costello Snr. Your family has been a tower of strength looking after you and being with you through your worst days and your best.
My heart breaks also that I never got to meet Johnny in person although I spoke on the phone many times, seen hundreds of photos and heard many tales so I feel I knew you well. I'm sure your family will give you the send off you deserve and the "Celebration of your life" that you have earned.
