My sincere condolences to John’s family on his passing. I first met John at the De Paul’s Boys Club / Blue Demons. I had the privilege of seeing his enormous contribution to the youth of the Blarney St community. He had such a positive influence on so many in the area. May he rest in peace.

It was with deep sadness that Verna and I heard of John’s death.
John was a founding member of De Paul Boys Club and was an integral part in helping us to become the men we are today.
I first met John over sixty years ago when first I joined De Paul Boys Club. Known back then as Mr. Coughlan to all of us,he always put the interest of club members first. Subsequently we worked together as members of the senior committee. May he Rest In Peace.

A true gentleman, a great friend and legend has left us.

Sincere Condolences to Family of Mr Coughlan. First met Mr Coughlan as a young teenager at De Paul’s Boys Club at the Cript under St Vincent’s Church over 60 years ago. He was a Gentleman to all the Teens that started in the Club

I am so sorry that John has passed away. He was one of my oldest friends who I knew long before my interest in basketball. Many a day we travelled to West Cork on his motor bike. My very deep sympathy to his relations. It is sad that he passed away while st. Anthony’s novena is currently running. John never missed it while he able to go. May he rest in peace.

Cork County Basketball Board.
He filled all those positions with distinction during his terms , office.
He will be sorely missed.
John was a very good friend of mine
throughout the years.
And i valued his wisdon and guidance
on many occasions.
