I was very sad to hear the news of Mr De Burgh’s passing and my sincere condolences to his wife and family. He was one of my teachers in Mater Christi in the early 80’s. He was an absolutely brilliant teacher, a very kind person and full of wit. He constantly made you feel that you could achieve anything if you just put your mind to it. He would always stop to have a chat when he bumped into you on the street even years and years after you had left school and he always remembered your name. Your full name!

RIP Mr de Burgh. He taught me business studies, which I got my highest grade in. He was a kind calm man. On his lunch time he would go out in his own to the big playing field in the school grounds in Mater Christi and hurl balls up and down the field with his hurl stick. Probably to clear his mind after our lessons!
I hope his wife, daughters and grandchildren see Facebook posts to see how loved he was and what a legend he was to us all
