John was a man full of love, kindness, intelligence, insight and had quality taste in so many things in life. It always baffled me how he could store soo much information, knowledge, years and facts on so many topics in his brain. His mind and soul are truly one of a kind. I am truly grateful for the countless hours we spent together talking and listening to soulful, unique, strikingly beautiful tunes. I’m going to miss you sticking to on records and saying your famous line “this album bleww my mind when I first heard it”.
Music will always be my special connection to John and I can’t thank him enough for educating me and sharing his stories throughout the years. I’ll forever treasure the laughs we had together, and the times spent by the stove drinking cups of tea and blasting only the best music in all the land.
John truly loved all his family, friends and neighbours in Wicklow and Cork. He always spoke so fondly of his memories on golden hill and all the lovely people he met along the way. A soul that will always be cherished, sorely missed and loved dearly. A true legend.
Your Chicken loves you more than you could ever imagine. xx

Saddened to hear of John's passing. He was such a lovely man and always had a ready smile and time to chat.
I remember him opening up the booth of my rear-wheel drive car and jumping in to add weight while I struggled to get up the hill in the snow. We succeeded!

Traveled up and down to boarding school in Carlow with John and then lost touch. Only got to know John again at the GAA pitch in Kilbride over the last few years .

John will be very missed around Manor Kilbride. So often last year I met him down at the graveyard. He took great pride in looking after it for the community & it never looked so lovely. A knowledgeable man on many subjects who always managed to make me laugh.

Very sad to hear of the passing of John. Such a lovely man and always had a beaming smile. His knowledge of music was incredible and he and my brother Ron used to regularly share and discuss records together. Only just recently John gave my daughter Anna who is a harpist a rare vinyl record and a CD of harp music which was so kind and thoughtful of him. Condolences to all the family. R.I.P John.

John always had great time for people and great conversation. When we were younger he would talk to all ages with the same engagement and interest and always made you feel like you were on the same level.

He was a constant quiet presence on Golden Hill, a true gentleman, and will be sorely missed.

Our deep condolences to Patricia, Branwen and extended family. John was a gentle soul who will be missed by everyone in the community that used to share his warm company and conversation.

The Club will be forever indebted to John who helped shape our new grounds and realise its potential from clearing the site way back in 2020 and 2021 and planting countless trees. Without John’s hard work the Club may not be in the healthy position it is today.

John really enjoyed contributing to something so positive and took great joy in seeing Hurling return to Manor Kilbride in the shape of Western Gaels. John loved Hurling and especially Cork Hurling and I know he took immense pride in going to the All-Ireland Hurling Final a few years ago as a small recognition for all the incredible work John did for the Club through the years.

A true Gael, thank you John. You will be terribly missed by all and your incredible work over the years will never be forgotten.

Very saddened by John’s passing. A sensitive soul. Many days and nights spent talking about and listening to such a wide variety of the worlds’ greatest tunes. On Vinyl of course. Such a keen ear, his musical knowledge and taste second to none. Introduced me to many great artists. No interest in commercial music, only had an ear for music of the soul. I’ll miss him.
