I was sad when I heard the passing of John Duffy. He was a remarkable man for his age, the way he looked after his garden and all the different beautiful flowers he had, it was lovely to see.
I just loved calling into the shop to see John, we had plenty of chats and laughter and he always gave me chewygum.

My sincere sympathy to the Duffy family on the passing of a true legend .John Duffy was a very special shopkeeper in clifferna who didnt need to use a till or a calculator. He had a garden across the road and would appear as if by magic through a hole in the ditch with a plastic bag on his head for the rain .He was so generous giving away his fresh vegetables..He kept many a stray dog that came to his door.john had a wonderful memory and had time for everyone.. you will never be forgotten. RIP John.

We as a school community were so sad and sorry to hear of the passing of John. A field trip up to John Duffy's shop was always a highlight of the year for many children from our school over the years, and a glimpse into the past of our locality for them. They wrote books and stories about their experiences which are treasured books in our library now. John was a local legend in all senses of the word. May he rest in peace.
