My condolences to the Duncan family on your loss. I knew John through Greystones RFC. I was not aware of his tremendous contribution to soccer in the town. I have been gone from the town for many years. Every now and then when I visited I'd drop in to the Burnaby and would bump into John, with his newspaper and his pint. The first time this happened I couldn't remember his name and I don't think he knew who the heck I was. Anyway we made our reintroductions and from then on would chat for a pleasant hour or two about anything and nothing. Till the next time.
So sorry to hear of John’s passing. A true gentleman who always loved a chat. Rest easy John.
Iain and Conor; all at Greystones RFC are saddened at the passing of John who was such an influential figure in the promotion of all sport in Greystones and a driving force in the development of Greystones United AFC. He will be sorely missed by all in the sporting community of Greystones. RIP

A true gentleman with a great sense of humour, an unbelievable memory, and always a twinkle in the eye to match his great wit. I enjoyed so many conversations with him and always felt wiser afterwards! Greystones United won't be the same without him. May he rest in peace.
Sad to hear of John's death. My condolences to all his family, relatives & friends. I met John some weeks back and we had a nice chat as always. I recall with fondness some years back John's participation in the local area "pub quiz" competitions. Both John and I were in Hillside but on competing teams. He and his team were the ones to beat, with his great grasp and wide knowledge that was no easy task. I must say now, John and his team were the better side. It was great fun and I recall many a good night out, always in a friendly but competitive spirit.
"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis"
RIP John. 🙏
Our sincere condolences to all the family. A Gentleman a Good Neighbour and our thoughts are with Conor, Ellie Iain and all their families. We will miss John out and about and his lovely hello while walking by. Our thoughts are with you all at this sad moment. The work he did for our community in GUFC was immense. A privilege to have had as a neighbour and no doubt he will be watching over you all and the Euros in Style.

As we say, its never goodbye as hard as can be but bye for now. See you on the other side.
