I remember John as a lovely gentleman when meeting him many years ago at Corcoran/O'Sullivan family weddings in Ballyhar.
My late parents Jackie & Eileen (Eily Mai O'Sullivan) always loved meeting him & and enjoyed his company.

In a world where diplomacy is in short supply, Johny Durcan shone like a beacon all through his career as a high ranking Agriculture official. His stock in trade was tact , fairness, and compassion, coupled with an overarching desire to help others to the best of his ability. Would that his ilk were around today. Each time he visited our factory in Ballincollig and Bandon, the spirits of everybody rose above the ordinary. Condolences to Eddie and Triona, but you must be of the way you looked after him in his latter years
