Saddened to hear of John’s passing, I have very fond memories working for John and Sheila in the mid eighties in their shop in Monkstown. John was always so good humoured and kind, a really nice man. RIP

Sincere condolances shared with John's Family on his sad passing, I think back to when the Casey Family moved into 72 North St.maybe 1959 or 1960 we lived across the St. in no. 8 we had the best of fun and devilement on the St. from sunrise till dark, I recall John having a few years on me, John and his pals, Pat Spillane, Michael O'Sullivan, John Joe O'Sullivan (RIP), Michael Dwyer all off North St and Brendan Hourihane, Chapel Lane. They were icons they were all we longed to be like. We played football in the Chapel Quay yard they had some style but were the supreme "Football Kings of the Quay and untouchable". Football stars born. Telefís Eireann hit town and Casey's, Gill's Bicycle Shop, midway down North St, Walley's six doors further down all had the first TVs in the St, open doors packed siting rooms and kitchens, the cinema for free, Tolka Row, Kit Carson, The Lone Ranger, The Rough Riders, The Valient Men, on Monday nights a no no detective crime serries full us smallies "Naked City". No such thing as a locked door on the St. Front Doors wide open,if not the key was dangling on the end of a twine in the letter box or stuck in the door. All to soon the Casey Familymoved to Killeereendowney Ave, Cork City and our icon John had disappeared from our midst but magic memories of him are still left with us to dwell on.Thank you John for sharing your magic with us and may the Good Lord see after you in comfort and ease from your pan in the midst of the Gardens of Paradise.
