Dear Mrs. Farrell and dear Family of Mr. Farrell
I have just read so many heartfelt words addressed to you at this sad time. It is simply impossible to imagine how much strength you all need now. I never knew Mr. Farrell but I know how much suffering death causes. Our Almighty God understands you like no one else. He wants people to live not to die. That is why in his Word God promises: "He hath swallowed up death for ever, and the Lord Jehovah will wipe away tears from off all faces" (Isaiah 25:8). It is a promise that will be fulfilled. Resurrecting people Jesus showed that by means of his God-given power he would brought our dead loved once back to life in the future. He gave a clear promise: "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his (Jesus') voice and come out" (John 5:28, 29). You can see this miracle with your own eyes and hug again your beloved husband and son right here on earth. It is going to be happy time when "death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore" (Revelation 21:4). Isn't it a beautiful scripture? I do hope it will give you comfort and help not to despair.

I only ever knew "of" John/Rasher. It's so sad to read some of the messages here. Condolences to John's family. I hope you get some strength from the fact that you were blessed to have had (by all accounts) such a treasure in your lives, albeit for such a short time. RIP John. For sure you'll be fondly remembered for a long time by a lot of people.

Whenever we see Mount Leinster we think of John. He was tall, strong and constant like that mountain. He was also ever present with us on the ski slopes, looking out for everyone in his quiet reassuring way with a bar of Ritter Sport chocolate at the ready for any crisis. But it was Mount Leinster that was central to the refrain he would leave us with after our annual trip. Bidding goodbye until next year he would always say “it's time to face her for Leinster”. As long as we ski John will be with us
