Very sad to hear of the passing of my cousin John. Having left Limerick in 1954 and marrying my wonderful English born wife in 1960 we have until very recently maintained a close connection with John`s siblings but never had the privilege of meeting him until a few years ago and what a memorable meeting that was. I knew immediately I was in the presence of a very special person. An encyclopedia of knowledge in general but sport in partiular. I detected a very humble and sincere person and it is to my shame I was not aware of what he had achieved on the green grass. I am sure you will be organising matches up THERE John, helped no doubt by your Dad William and your Mother my wonderful Aunt Mary Ann: Your brother Lawrence and your sister, my very favourite cousin Vera (Sister Veronica) We have not met Johns family but would like to extend our deepest condolences..Rest in Peace

I used to meet John in the parks in Clancy Strand and his knowledge of sports was second to none his collection of programs was phenomenal.he was involved in a lot of codes but I still don’t know which was his favorite he played clever. He had a difference of opinion when Ballynanty rovers was founded caused many a debate. I know his faith meant a lot to him . He will have some debates in heaven when he is reunited with Larry and Liam. So may John Rest In Peace . Our thoughts are with his family and prayers are with John A giant in sport and life
