Although we hadn't seen John for many years since moving to England, we both have many fond memories of him from our days at Queen's and in the climbing community. We were also delighted to meet him by chance on the occasion of a visit back to Ireland some years later. A man of character and definitely one of the good guys.
RIP, John.
