It’s impossible to remember uncle john without smiling, every memory I have of John is him showing us how to get up to mischief, and doing his best to make us laugh. He was the perfect uncle - always ready to greet us with fun and jokes and a belly laugh that was so contagious that I can still hear it perfectly in my mind.
His ability to bond with us as kids - back then - was second to none, and he always found a way to make something mundane fun, or show us a new game, and John let us do stuff that was either so dangerous or so ridiculous that we admired him so much for letting us truly find adventure and create unforgettable childhood memories. As a child he was my crazy and fun uncle. As an adult he was the uncle who cared for our grannie and made sure she always had comfort and company. John always had something interesting to tell and spoke to me with pride about his genealogy and I was always so impressed and proud of the efforts and progress he made with that. When I spoke to John he touchingly always remembered so much about my life and what I was up to, asked after the special people in my life by name and I will always treasure that. John was an unforgettable person, but most importantly to me, a fantastic uncle who created memories and joy that we will never forget.
