My brother Charlie and I were shocked and saddened to learn of John's sudden death. Especially since it came just a matter of weeks after our brother Vincent's death at the end of November. John hosted Vinny and I at the Pub on our last evening in Achill and we had a wonderful time. We also met Liz John's daughter and on behalf of your American cousins wish to extend our deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved Father to Neil,Eoin, Catherine as well as to Liz. May the memories you shared of good times spent together sustain you at this sad time. We also wish to express our comdolences to John's brothers and sisters with whom we have formed a strong bond over the years and with whom we have had many good times. Sincere condolences on the passing of your Dad......he was such a wonderfully warm, kind man. He gave me a massive yellow Teddy as a present when I was born in 1979 in Cork. Myself and younger siblings played with it for years. I knew he was a sailor but in many ways he was just like that big cuddly teddy.....

So sorry to hear of John's passing. Many a great conversation was had as we stood by the bar in Douglas Gaa.

Such sad news to hear that John has passed away now reunited with his beloved Mary, his brother Michael and parents. We had the good fortune to meet him on 17th.March 2024. He had just come out of hospital few days earlier but he did not want to miss the most important day in the Achill calendar..A truly wonderful man.
