Sincere condolences to Mary and all John's family on his sad passing. John was a gentleman. My abiding memory is as a teenager, back in the 1980s, cutting his grass every week. It was a well paid but tricky task with plenty of steep steps and hills. The only easy part was at the front of the house but this is where disaster struck! The family car was packed to the brim, ready for a ferry trip to France later that day. Just as I was finishing cutting their grass, a stone flew from the lawnmover and shattered one of the car windows. My worst nightmare, I can't remember how John got it fixed but he never got mad at me or blamed me. Always fond memories of John Doyle, a true gentleman. May he now rest in peace.

John, a Giant of Man in more ways than one , John’s heart was first and foremost in Bray ,but his mind roamed freely though time and place , as was evidenced by our first meeting as a newcomer to Bray from Connemara, his knowledge of our history and fauna was deep and he introduced me to the book by Robert Lyod Praeger : Naturalists and Antiquarians in Connemara and the Islands 1894-1914. Such was the depth of the man.
We will not see his like again anytime soon .

The Executive of the Bray School Project Association together with the Board of Management and the whole school community wish to extend deepest sympathy to you Mary, Bartley, Colm and Johanna and all of the Doyle family on the death of John.
John who was a founding member of our school is remembered as having been a tremendous advocate for multidenominational education at a time when it was unimaginably difficult to campaign on such issues. He remained engaged and interested in the school down through the years and attended BSP Association AGMs up to quite recently. The development of Educate Together could not have happened without the critical contribution of people like John.
