John was a real gentleman, a truly nice guy. My condolences to all his family.
I interned with John about 10 years ago and give him credit for instilling in me the confidence I needed at that formative time in my life. I was brimming with questions about the industry, about Dublin and about life and John patiently answered them all for me with his gentle charm and quick wit. He was a true gentleman who spoke about Phil and his daughters with such pride. He was well-respected by everyone who came through the door and I could see why.

Sending you my deepest condolences during this time.
To dear Phil and all the Gibson family.

Please accept our sincere sympathy on the death of John.

May he rest in peace.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Anne and Malcolm

My deepest condolences to Philomena and Johns daughters, John was a wonderful friend and a gentleman. I started my interiors career under John's guidance. John very thoughtfully would pick me up on the way in to work in his car of many samples. We would listen to Lyric FM and chat about the day a head. I loved to search through his extensive archive of wallpaper and fabric samples. I am forever grateful for his time and help at the beginning of my career. May he rest in peace

Brookfield has lost a truly valued club member. John was patient and kind and fun and generous with his time. I hope he’s still slicing away on a tennis court in heaven! Fond farewell and rest in peace to a true gentleman.
It was with deep sadness that I learned of John's passing. When I joined Brookfield Tennis Club I immediately became aware of his immense contribution to the success of the club. He was a gentleman and was the most interesting person to join in conversation.
I offer my condolences to his family for their loss.
It's hard to realise now that Covid is almost behind us that John won't be there to organise us. Every Sunday morning, Tuesday and Friday evening saw him in Brookfield quietly surveying the play and putting people together so that they had a good game. He kept all our scores in his head and we had nothing to do except turn up and play. He tried to teach me to play GO but failed totally, the fault was not his, it was completely mine. I also will never forget his twisty shots and the look of supreme pleasure on his face when I failed to even hit the ball. John, thank you for being a wonderful friend. My profound sympathy to you, Phil for his loss.
Sincere sympathy to the Gibson family on John's passing. A gentleman and friend for over 40 years. Skilled in many areas. A great organiser. He will be sorely missed by St. Benildus chess club members and by many others.
