Deepest Sympathy and Heartfelt condolences to Keith, Zara and family on the passing of your beloved father John. John was a true gentleman and was always so kind and caring to everyone he met. He was also a complete howl and would have you in the stitches laughing with his jokes and unique sense of humour.

John will be missed so very much by his family, friends and all those in the traditional irish music scene. Elphin really and truly have lost a good one however he will never and could never be forgotten and his memory will live on in his son Keith and daughter Zara who he adored and doted on.

I hope John now has the best bed in heaven and is finally reunited with his beautiful wife Christina who he sorely missed. May your gentle soul rest in peace John.

Sincere sympathy to Keith, Zara and the extended Gildea family on John’s passing. He was the true community Garda warning about security years before we all became more aware. There were fond memories of him in this house over the past few days. Arriving as Santa on Christmas Eve with snow on the ground. The boots gave him away one year! For many years he kept a Sunday afternoon session for young musicians afloat in the Windmill and encouraged young musicians to develop and play. May you too, remember the happy days in these difficult weeks.
