Deepest condolences to the Gill family.John was a genuinely nice man and much loved by his friends including my father Gerry his NT friend and golf companion.My Dad loved his company and that of Michael his nephew who kindly showed him around New York on a trip a few years ago.Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Deepest sympathy to the Gill family on the sad passing of master John Gill ,when I attended ballinameen N/S in the sixties we were privileged to have one of the best teachers that ever stood in any school ,in secondary school when teachers found out we came from John Gill they knew they had no problem with us . We remained friends for life and many a Sunday evening my husband Jimmy and myself had afternoon tea and then a guided tour around his wonderful garden .May his gentle soul rest in peace . I was sorry to hear of John's death. My late father, Christy Murray, was for many years a friend and golfing buddy of John's. He and John, along with two others from Co Roscommon, played a four ball on Saturdays at least once a month in Rosses Point and they would often repair to our house in Sligo Town for tea and a bite to eat afterwards. John was the last surviving member of that quartet. I knew John well myself over those years. He was kind and decent, a gentleman always. RIP.
