On behalf of Muintir Na Gaillimhe Committee (Dublin) I wish to express my deepest condolences to Gill and family on the untimely death of John. On the many occasions when banqueting facilities were needed there was ever and always only one person on our list, John Glynn. He was most accommodating and dealt with us in a most professional and willing manner. Being a Galway man he took huge pride in hoisting the maroon and white, win , lose or draw.
He had a great sense of humour which was always in evidence notwithstanding the nature of his highly demanding work.
Truly he was our friend and the very special memories he left will never be forgotten.

To all the Glynn family, I had the privilege to know John over many years at the Burlington, Citywest and Clayton. I was always amazed at this ability to make us guests feel as if we were the most important people staying in the hotel, however, it was his care and attention to all staff, whom he knew by name that made each encounter special. His kindness and thoughtfulness was matched by his love of his family. May he rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to the Glynn family. My sister Céline was an au pair for the family in 95-96 and I remember meeting John, Gill and children when I moved to Dublin. John had organised an interview for me and I went on to work in the Burlington for a few years.
He was a gentleman! Very sad to hear of his passing, our thoughts are with you in this very sad time.

From my time working as steward in croke pk for over 16 years ,i have fond memories of meeting john in croke pk, and also in the burlington and city west hotels ,he was a gentleman to me and my family, and a top manager of hotels and very professional in everything he did in his various roles in his profession. It was with great sadness that I heard of John’s death yesterday .
I worked with John for many years with the Doyle Hotel Group of Hotels .
John worked very hard to make the Burlington such a high success as it was in the 1980s and 1990s .
A great character always enjoyed a chat and a laugh .

John was a great industry colleague and was so supportive and obliging while always pursuing the best opportunities for the hotels he managed over the years. Gregarious, but always a thorough professional and during my time in Bord Failte we were involved in a number of initiatives together including when he was establishing the original Clayton Hotel in Galway.
