John was a neighbour for the last number of years and he was an absolute gentleman of the highest order. He so loved his books, BBC radio 4 and was always a keen and intelligent conversationalist. As an attendee with John of the Convent national school it doesn't seems that long ago,since we were in it together.

A generous helping of mothers home made brown bread and jam was always laid on after school visits to Grennan.Good times.

He was always a most pleasant person to chat to and will be greatly missed.

I was saddened to hear of John’s passing and have many fond memories of him from years gone by - another century and another time - his gentle ways and warmth, his love of music.
