Geraldine , just heard the news of John’s passing , my deepest sympathy to you & the entire family. A lot of memories for us all at this time.
“ I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,

And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;

Nine bean rows will I have there, a hive for the honey bee,

And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,

Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;

There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,

And evening full of the linnet’s wings.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day

I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;

While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,

I hear it in the deep heart’s core.
— Tadhg & Colleen Campion Dublin

So sorry to hear of John’s departure so prematurely. He was a great friend to both of us in Roscrea & Nenagh in the 70s/ 80s.He was a kind patient, humorous man talented in many ways but never laughed at people, always with them. For us the song that brings him to mind is “Jerusalem” with a belting rendering.. To Geraldine and the boys our deepest sympathies and to all the Grace family. There will always be lovely reminders. We know this phrase is often used of people but of John you can say with real feeling; “ Ní fheicimíd a leithéid arís!”

My deepest sympathy to Geraldine and the Grace family on the untimely death of John RIP. I put the pen in John's hand when he came to work in AIB Kilrush and we had many great days and nights in West Clare while there. We both moved on but met often mainly through Inter Bank hurling. He was very skilful an extremely fast. In 1975 we had the honour of representing AIB against London in the Wembley games. John was a sub that day and replaced the great Eddie Keher at half time. He was thrilled to see the match report on the following days paper say Grace replaces Keher on the AIB team. The odd time he would explain that Eddie was playing for Kilkenny against Limerick in the following game. John was great fun, a great singer and loved life when we toured in those days. I am very sad to see that John has passed and hope that Geraldine and his family know how well he was thought of by his many friends. May his soul rest in peace. Tony Gleeson Templederry and Ennis.
