My sincere condolences to the Grimes family. My heart is broken as I have just heard the sad news of John’s passing. A True gentleman, one of a kind. I have not met you all, but I feel like I know you all, from John and I ‘s daily chat, as he would sit with me everyday after the children left the classroom. He proudly told all the news about his beautiful grandchildren. I loved hearing his stories from his youth and growing up in Eastwall. I will never forget how good he was to me! He cared for me, worried about me and often helped me with my car! He was far from the title ‘caretaker’ in Gaelscoil Chomcille, he cared for us teachers and children alike. Every morning as the children would enter the school the words ‘Maidin mhaith John’ would echo through the building, as he stood and greeted each and every child with his beautiful smile and high 5s, how lucky were they to start off their day like that! The kindest heart! Thinking of you all at this sad time. John will forever be in my prayers x

I am very sorry to hear that John has died. Condolences to Yvonne and all his family. I worked with John for many years in IIRS. He was always a pleasure to be with, and no on-site problems were too difficult for him to solve. He was a good tennis player too.

Condolences to John's family. It was a pleasure to work with John at IIRS ( from the Cork Office). Spent many enjoyable days on site working with him. He had a great work ethic and was a wonderful colleague.

John was a valued member of our school community at Gaelscoil Cholmcille. He had a lovely way about him, and he would stop throughout the day to chat to parents and children alike, and in doing so, his presence made our school such a nice place to be. We are so sorry to hear of John's passing and our thoughts are with his family during this sad time.

I was very sorry to hear of John's passing. I am a parent of children at Gaelscoil Cholmcille. John was like a bonus grandparent to all the children, and was dearly loved by them all. He was a very important part of the school community, and we were so lucky to have him. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

John will be so sadly missed. He was our caretaker in Gaelscoil Cholmcille but John took care of a lot more than the school building. He took care of each and every one of us teachers and children, not to mention our cars! The kindest, most gentle and friendly heart. My thoughts are with all his family.
