Sad to hear of Johns passing. He was so good to me and other Alltechians over the years. I always enjoyed meeting John and the rugby banter that inevitably ensued. Condolences to David, Philip and all the family.

Although I retired on March 31st 2025, I worked from the UK in partnership with John on behalf of Magimix UK for many years. John was always passionate and professional, and I loved being in his company.

I will never forget the brevity of his emails where one word from him would suffice, where the rest of us would use a dozen.

A gentleman and a legend, who will be greatly missed by his family, and all of us that had the absolute pleasure to know him and Caroline.

We are very saddened at the passing of dear John.

I have so many great memories of John from my time in the distillery. His absolute passion and care, always pushing for the very best. John was a special person in our lives.

He - and Alltech - changed our trajectory. From the very beginning, John believed in us, even though we were just starting out with limited experience. We’re deeply grateful for everything he gave us: his belief, his wisdom, and the many adventures we shared.

We have a hundred stories and have shared a thousand laughs with John. We’ll miss him dearly, and we’ll never forget him. He’ll always hold a special place in our hearts.

My sincere condolences to Lorcan and the extended Lyons family. I met John at school and then again when we were neighbours in Swords. By further coincidence we were working in the same business and we ultimately went into business together. We were involved in many personal events in those years and became close friends. As the expression goes we were best pals. And I was best man at his marriage to Caroline. Unfortunately circumstances split us up in business and then as pals. We had the odd few pints over the years and then John rang me a few weeks ago to say hello and told me he had cancer. Sadly I didn’t realise he was saying goodbye.
Anyway let him know to keep a stool for me at his new local.

Dear Philip, I was shocked to hear of John's passing, especially coming so soon after the tragic loss of Caroline. My thoughts are with you, David, Emily and Tara during what must be an incredibly difficult time.

I have very vivid memories of John rowing us around Cavetown Lough while we were dapping for trout, or teaching us half blood knots when we were six or seven years old and fishing for perch. I remember his rule of "no maggots on the boat" years later when we were catching roach (and you caught that beautiful tench) near Athlone!

He was a great man and he will be sadly missed.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to John’s family. I have fond memories of meeting John during his time collaborating with our marketing team on some truly memorable ad campaigns. I was also fortunate to work alongside him at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy and later on the ONE Vision and other ONE-related projects. Those experiences were always uplifting, inspiring, and genuinely enjoyable.
