I want to send my deepest condolences on the loss of your father, John.

Although I didn’t have the privilege of knowing him personally, I feel I’ve come to understand the kind of man he was through Stephen. Stephen is one of the most genuine, thoughtful, and kind-hearted people I know — incredibly hard-working and deeply caring. That kind of character doesn’t happen by chance; it’s shaped by the people who raise us. It’s clear that John, alongside Stephen’s mum, passed on something truly special.

Today’s funeral was a beautiful tribute. The letter Stephen wrote — read so thoughtfully by the priest — was deeply moving. Through his words, we all felt the depth of love, respect, and admiration he had for his father. It painted a picture of a kind, sincere, genuine and principled man, and brought John’s spirit to life for everyone present.

Though I never had the chance to meet John, I can see so much of him in Stephen. He lives on not only in memory, but in the values and character Stephen carries with him every day.

On behalf of myself, my father Derek — who also thinks very highly of Stephen — my wife Caoimhe, and all our family, please know we’re thinking of you and are here if ever needed.

John was very supportive of me in Murrintown school when we got our new pitch and he could always be relied on to help out with different projects with a no nonsense hands on approach.He was a kind , friendly man who will be sadly missed by family and friends.
