I was greatly shocked and saddened to learn of John’s sudden death, RIP, and express my heartfelt sympathy to Vanessa, his children Paul, Neil, Emily and their mother Gráinne. John was a very gentle and courteous man and a loyal and selfless colleague. He will be missed by his family and friends. Ar dheis lámh Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

it was with the deepest sorrow we learned of John's untimely death. He was a man of honour & integrity with a warm & gentle personality. He gave generously, many hours of his time to the advancement of Greystones & its environment through his involvement with Tidy Towns. He will leave a void that cannot be filled.

My thoughts are with you all at this sad and tragic time.

To all John’s family my deepest sympathies. He was a beautiful man and gentle soul. I was very fortunate to see him recently where there was only joy and love and where he seemed to flourish in the warmth of all present. I am so sorry that joy has been shattered and his absence so deeply felt by each of you. I hold you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Great memories from our time in Terenure College and afterwards, especially a weekend in the caravan in Lough Ennel with Paul Joyce. I seem to remember experiments with Guinness and cornflakes for breakfast when milk ran out! There was always fun when John was around.

Sincere sympathy to Neil and the Harrington family on your sad loss RIP

It is with great sadness we have learned of the passing of John. John enthusiastically taught English to our Spanish & French students for many years during the summer months. He was such a gentleman and always had a smile for you when you greeted him. So, so many of our students benefited from his English Language skills as well as the many 'Cliff Walk' afternoons that he brought the students on, as part of their afternoon activities - he was a great leader & educator. It is hard to believe he is no longer with us! Sincere condolences to Vanessa and all the Harrington family.
