Deepest condolences to Elaine, Rory and all the Hogan family. John was indeed the good company that so many here have mentioned. He was also very kind, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who has benefitted from his natural instinct to do a good turn whenever he could. Thanks John and rest in peace.

I was so shocked to hear the news of John's sudden passing. My deepest sympathy to Rory, Elaine, Fidelma, Maria, Siobhán and all his loved ones and his many friends. John was a gentleman. May he rest in peace.

I knew John slightly when he was a student. After that, we'd bump into one another -we lived nearby. We were poles apart, and I liked him very much. My condolences to all close to him.

Shocked and saddened to hear of the untimely death of John. I knew him well during our time together at Trinity and Trinity Students' Union, and have such fond and vivid memories of him. With two John Hogan's in our group, he was known by all as 'Sligo' Hogan. Witty and warm, he was always full of mischevious fun and was a well-loved friend.
