Sincere sympathy to the O' Connell family on Jack's death..Jack was also an accomplished civil servant and very passionate about his work and finished his career as the Principal Officer in charge of Inland Fisheries Division. He was one of the first people I encountered when I started working in the then Department of Fisheries and Forestry over 40 years ago. He was thoughful and kind in looking out for new inexperienced recuits like myself and staff were very fond and loyal to him. After he retired, I used to meet him regularly when he played the piano in a Chinese restaurant in Stillorgan. He would always take time out to talk, ask about people from the good old days and then he would ask what I would like to hear him play. May he rest in peace.
Sincere, condolences to the entire O'Connell family, Joanie, Danny, Brendan, Katie, Jamie, nieces, nephews and to all of the extended family and friends that loved Jack. I have fond memories of Jack as I would appear regularly at the front door of 39 Woodbine, looking for Joanie. Jack would open the front door really wide, with a smirk on his face, as if he might not let you entre the premises. Then he would shout up to Joanie to come downstairs. I spent many hours with Joanie, listening to music, drinking Tea and eating biscuit's, at the house. Jack would supply us with large bars of Cadburys on a regular basis. Jack and my brother Ken shared a love of the piano and swapped back and forth many many sheets of music together. Jack and Marion took many international holidays with my parents Rosemarie and Denis. Sending love from all the Donohue family at number 27 Woodbine. Cliona Donohue, RIP Jack.
My condolences to the family on the passing of Jack. I have many fond memories of him on our hill walks together in the Brothers of the Lug. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Danny, Anne, Jamie, Katie and the wider O’Connell family

Sorry to hear that Jack passed away.fond memories of my youth and Jack had a great back garden with lots of tasty apples and pears. You could set the clock by his appearance at six in the evening on his bike,on his way to play the piano in town.Memories of serious piano practice going on for hours, while I was waiting for Brendan to hurry up and finish so we could get back to playing soccer on woodbine avenue.

Danny and family with deepest sympathy on the passing of your beloved Dad.
Dear O’Connell family,
I was sorry to read your death notice with regard to your dear father, Jack. My memory of him is in Marion’s time some years ago. He was a very pleasant ,upright and dependable man and I could not imagine him ever changing. I read also that Anne Marie died. I remember as a very pleasant young lady.
Marion was my first cousin on my mother’s side, Nora Buckley. I lived in Dublin up to 20 years ago, but my wife and I retired to Abbeyfeale. If any of you are ever in the vicinity give us a call. I live at 6, Convent Road, Abbeyfeale, County Limerick.
Best of luck to you all. Éamonn Ó Liatháin
