He said it straight, no messing around,
A heart of gold, both kind and sound.
He’d lend a hand, he’d set things right,
A steady soul, a guiding light.

From dinner dances, planned with care,
To making sure that all felt fair.
He’d crack a joke, then pour the tea,
The life and heart of family.

That Gardiner Street wit, sharp and warm,
No fake, no fluff — just honest form.
He’d tell you plain, he’d have his say,
Then laugh and love the same old way.

No storm could shake his grounded stance,
He met life’s trials with quiet balance.
No empty words, no false pretence,
Just humour, love, and common sense.

Now that he’s gone, I see it clear,
The worth of those who choose to be here.
I’ll keep his ways in all I do —
Real hearts, true souls — the loyal few.

Because he taught me, through and through,
To value those whose word holds true.
