He saved the State a small fortune in turning around the finances of the VHI. But above all he was a pleasure to spend time with - wise, honest, always interested in others and full of excitement and fun. A life well lived.

I was so sorry to hear of Johns passing. I got to know John when we took part in the IOD Chartered Director programme together. I always enjoyed meeting John, chatting to him and getting to know him. Caroline & family, sending my condolences at this difficult time. I had the pleasure of working alongside John whilst in Friends, he was inspirational, kind and a very decent person to work with. John always found the time to impart wisdom and show he cared for all of us as the MD. Very few people had the skills to inspire so many as John did, he will be greatly missed, may he rest in peace.

Deeply saddened to hear of John’s passing. I have great memories of John going back to our early days in Vhi. He was a great sports enthusiast and even played rugby (once)!!!
I watched his business career blossom with admiration and was delighted when he brought his unique skills back to Vhi.
His was a light that shone bright in every company he enjoyed - a true and genuine people person.
