Dear John Joe,

I've always fondly remembered our chats about plates, places and wherever I was living over the years. I'll also fondly remember your amusement when the doggies would be barking at the door in St James's Crescent with the fear of us at the door, our fear.

Those were lovely chats and times. Right up until Christmas when my own kids enjoyed seeing you as well. Eloisa remembers you well, which makes me proud.

You were always so kind and present, warm and welcoming. Knowledgeable and informed, curious and humble.

John Joe good rest you and I wear my shirt and tie here today in Helsinki as I watched your service online. I feel it befitting and in a certain way I also think you might enjoy the notion. That even far away we can all join in together. To see you off and say goodbye over that beautiful rendition of The Old Bog Road.

John Joe was a true Gentleman, and he will be missed greatly i will miss our daily chats over the newspaper and various subjects we become fond friends over the years and i will always cherish that time together, i want to pass on my deepest Condolences to all his family who have also been very kind.
