Heartfelt condolences from our family to yours on the death of Johnny.

John Fitz met Johnny Fox when he was 18 years old and they’ve been firm friends across the 64 years that have passed since then. Sharing a deep love of horse racing, Johnny always had the sought-after front passenger seat in John’s jeep on their many trips to Cheltenham. These most-valued adventures involved the pals enjoying great racing together, having big and important discussions about which horses to back, joining in on random late-night singing sessions around the piano in their younger years, and (perhaps occasionally), having the odd little bit of refreshment along the way.

Back home, the two men travelled together to domestic race meetings all around Ireland; they worked together on various projects over the years; they put the world to rights many an evening standing across the counter from one another in Johnnie Foxes pub in Glencullen; they celebrated life’s good times with one another; and of course, they each supported the other in the losses that life brought to their doors over the years.

From John to Johnny: Goodbye to my old friend.

From us all: We will remember Johnny with affection and respect; he was a wonderfully kind man, a great character, and we are very fortunate to have known him.

We will keep Johnny and you all in our thoughts and prayers.
