John was like a father figure, a big brother and a good friend all rolled into one to myself and Stevie over the years. We spent many an early morning working hard but always having the crack while we were at it too. The laughter and insults would be flowing, along with the concrete, I think that's why John stayed working with us right to the end as he enjoyed the term too much to finish up & he'd be afraid he'd miss out on anything!

There will never be the likes of him again & I will miss him dearly. It was a privilege to have worked with him and to have classed him as a friend.
