Deepest sympathy to Nancy and the Keenan family on the death of John, areal gentleman, may he rest in peace and
John was my neighbour growing up in Corristoona and was also my bus driver for my first year in secondary school (and I think his last year before retiring). John went out of his way to drive back up the lane to collect me every day so I didn't have to walk in the rain. It was a small kindness but one that reflected the person he was. We have happy memories of the influx of visitors from Manchester that John had to stay at his small house in Corristoona every summer and are so sorry that they were not able to come to Ireland and send him off as they would have liked.
Rest in Peace John...

To Mary, Teresa, and all your family. Sincere condolences on the passing of John. John has a special place in all our memories, from warming up the bus for the first passengers in Corristoona, to hosting all his family from the UK in his small and welcoming home, and making us feel like Corristoona was like Woodstock for a week! He will be dearly missed by all the O Connell family. May he rest in peace. xx

Deepest sympathies to John's family on his passing. Such lovely memories of him on the Runnamoate school bus run. In Spring we would ask daily how many lambs were born and in Summer he stopped at McDermott's shop and would get all the children Mr. Freezes. John - May heaven be your home now - what a gentle, kind and patient soul. Such fond, fond memories of our journeys to and from school, when we’d give up talking on the bus for Lent and John would try everything to get us to utter something! A pleasure to have known him. Our loss is surely heavens gain. Rest peacefully John. Liz Hanly (Lee)

Rest in peace John you were a true gentleman always had a welcoming smile, deepest sympathy to the Keenan family
The words gentlemen are used so often but in the case of John he was one of life's Gentle caring people. His manner was one of gentleness and patience. He drove his CIE yellow school mini bus around the roads of Ballinaheglish for many years. He didn't demand respect, he received respect from each child be brought to school and at the end of term there was always a treat from John and it moved between mc Dermotts, Paddy & Tessies and Caseys, In those days there was no Health and safety or seat belts as he drove a packed bus and who ever got the front seat beside john got to change the gears!!! How life has changed, it is hard to believe he retired from the school Run 25 years ago this summer. May he now rest in peace and may his family know consolation, so many would have wanted to have been present to bid him farewell on his journey home to God
RIP JOHN , One of the finest gentlemen.
