To Anne Marie and The Kelly family, My sincere condolences to you all, for the loss of John, he was truly a very remarkable guy, not a day goes by, that I don't think of him, he was quite simply, one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to know, everybody loved John, he spoke to everyone, and gave up his time generously, he had friends from all walks of life, and could blend in seamlessly to any situation or event, he was very intelligent, but would play it down, he was witty and had a great sense of humour, but would never make a fool of you, I was fortunate enough to have known him for the past forty years, and shared countless nights out, gigs and football matches with him. He was the most unique person I've ever known, selfless, kind, helpful to anyone that needed him, and a great friend to me. John was everyone's friend, and he was my closest one. Rest well, my old pal, it's your time now, see you on the other side!!!
Can't believe that John has died so young, I always enjoyed chatting to him at work. He was honest, witty and always spoke the truth. You always got the impression that he was a good guy who you could trust. He will be hugely missed. Condolences to all his family. May he rest in peace.
To the Kelly family and Anne Marie,
My sincere sympathies to you as you cope with the loss of John from your lives. John was a friend, ally and colleague in the DoJ for the last 15 or so years and I enjoyed every one of the many chats and interactions we had in that time. John also performed an important role in ensuring that my stock of meal deal crisps never got out of control! He was ever willing to help on that front! You were all so lucky to have had John in your lives, as us colleagues were, but your loss is now a big cross to bear. I wish you strength as you go through the grieving process around a beautiful human being. May he rest in peace.

To John's family,
Our hearts are saddened by the loss of our great colleague John, IPO will never be the same without him, as he was always there, smiling, with a witty comment or a moan about something.
John was an exceptional colleague, always helpful to his own colleagues and to our applicants. I used to think that he was the Agony Uncle to all the applicants who used to ring him when he worked in the Customer Service and would confide in him. He was also an amazing detective of finding physical files in the building, as well as passports, in the entire department. He will be greatly missed and his absence would be felt.
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you at this very difficult time. May you find comfort and strength in the presence of your family.

My sincerest condolences to John's family, Ann Marie and all of his friends on his passing. I knew JK from playing cricket with him many times for both Clontarf and the Diggers in the 2010s and he was a great man and teammate in so many ways. There was never a dull moment with JK around at a cricket match, either before, during or after! I will miss him greatly, but I was lucky and honoured to have known him as a friend. Rest in peace JK.

My deepest condolences to John's family and Anne-Marie. I knew John playing for the Diggers. He was great captain, very fair in making sure everybody got a go, lots of great moments on the pitch and always played for the love of it. Off the pitch his personality also shone through. As we would have said in Australia he had a touch of 'larrikin' about him, a real character with a big heart. He will be sorely missed by us all at Diggers on and off the field.

Sincere condolences to all John’s family. A terrible loss.
I had the privilege of knowing John from back on the ferries and from ORAC/IPO. Whether it be sat on kegs having a pint at 2am in the keg room out the back of the Disco Bar of the St Killian II in a Force 8 gale somewhere off of Land’s End, or whether it was in the ORAC/IPO canteen having a cuppa, spending time chewing the fat with John was nothing but time well spent. A true gent.

I'm very sorry I couldn't be there today. JK will be sorely missed by me and all the Gravediggers CC. I'll remember his man of the match speeches and his good humour. I have good memories of his advice and guidance for a cricket novice, and his good grace on the occasions I didn't follow it! RIP Captain.

Anne Marie, so so sorry to hear of John's passing. Always bumped into John at a Dub's match, either in Croker or down the country, going onto the pitch at half time with his nephew to kick the ball around. Or we'd bump into each other on Baggot St at lunchtime, John running to the bank, both of us late going back to work and in a hurry but always had time to stop and chat, no matter what. I won't walk that stretch of road again without thinking of John. May he rest in peace. Pauline and Ciarán
My sincere condolences to John's family and partner. He was a gentleman and will be sadly missed may he rest in peace
My forever friend JK.
I first met JK in 1981, Ballymun Comprehensive School. It was there from the start, the broad smile, kindness, generosity, the wit, the stories, the genuineness. John was like a big brother to me, the brother I never had. He looked out for me, encouraged me, had me playing hurling, got me on the winning team in Croke Park schools final. "I was crap",
In later years came cricket. Diggers CC, Clontarf CC. Adam and I would wait for JK at the Albert college. JK would never let you down, the most dependable, faithful human being, and no matter what, gave it everything on that pitch.
A month ago, John reminded me that we knew each other 43 years. We planned to do something special after he returned from his hols in a few weeks... In a few hours time, the final parting will come.
The pain I am going through is nothing compared to the unimaginable heartache and sadness that the Kelly family, Annmarie and extended family are enduring right now. My sincere condolences and sympathy to each and everyone of you.
How I will miss that swagger, that beaming smile, the witty craic and banter, that jovial personality, the life, fun and energy that lifted everyone on their darkest days. JK was life. I wish to thank John for sharing his life with me. I will forever miss my friend and life brother and will never, ever forget him.
So, go rest high on that mountain JK and may you stay, forever young.
