Very sorry to hear of the passing of John, a man who contributed greatly to the legendary Saint Kevin's AFC. From a family that if you needed to sing for your supper you'd have to be good, because everyone was tremendous, and John was a fine singer. I hope he doesn't mind me borrowing from Luke's 'In memoriam' card: 'Táim i mo chodhladh, agus ná dúistear mé.

Very saddened by the sudden death of John, one of life's true gentlemen.. R. I. P. John.
"When I'm 64". I never associated that sing with the Beatles. It was his song, actions n all. I've known John for more than 50 years, enjoyed his company, wit, storytelling and always poignant versions of legendary songs. From attending all the home Rugby games with him and his brothers in the 70's n 80's to Carignavar and Mornington, Newcastle West, The Comet, his amazingly welcoming home in Whitehall for many a rousing party. Watching games in Ellenfield and The Park, Lansdowne, Japan,....John was the ultimate companion for a wonderful night and indeed a wonderful pal through life. Rest John, you've served your time well and I'll never forget you. RIP
