The officers and members of Sarsfields GAA Club in Wexford town wish to sympathise with the Kennedy family on their immense loss. John was an outstanding servant of our club from 1962 to 1966, playing in three successive county Senior semi-finals from 1962 to 1964 and winning Cherry Shield (SFL) and Arklow tournament medals. He represented Wexford with distinction at Senior level and was right corner-back for the Leinster championship games of 1965 (v. Dublin) and 1966 (v. Wicklow and Meath). On a special day for our club in Croke Park in 1966 against Meath, he was one of 13 members who donned the purple and gold (five Seniors and eight Minors). He also played with Wexford against Laois in the first-ever Leinster Under-21 championship in 1964. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
