Recently Christine told us of this shocking news, no warning, so sudden. I have learnt something of John and his life from reading all the tributes to him. He was a family and community man and worked hard, now not to enjoy his well deserved retirement years and to continue to be there to support and enjoy his growing family. My deepest condolences to all of John's dear family and friends. His colleagues will certainly miss seeing him daily as I know I already have this past week. I worked with John on many projects the last 10 years and his skill and speed won't be surpassed, nor his dry wit. Rest in peace John.

Dear Emma and Family. I’ve just found out this news, and am shocked beyond words. God only knows what you are all going through. I am so sorry. I was in school with Tiernos, along with his good pal David Higgins - they were inseparable - two really good guys. I lost contact with John for years but having just joined the rugby club last month, I looked forward to rekindling it. I talked to him only a week ago. This is so awful. I will pray for him, and for you all at this difficult time. I’ve had a lot of bereavements myself and if any of you could use a chat or support in the coming weeks or months, just shout. Really sorry about this, it is so upsetting

It was with deepest regret that we heard of the passing of John (Thirnos) last Sunday . As a member he always supported us in our endeavours to grow the fledgling society into what it has now become . Surprisingly he even came and played in some of our outings and enjoyed himself. We will miss him both around the club and on our golf outings . He was a great club man , and his passion and commitment for MRFC was never far from his heart .
