I only learned yesterday (May 21st) of the passing of John. Although I had lost contact with John and all the members of the King family since they left Wexford town, I will always remember John as a very nice person. We went to National school together and even though he was a few years ahead of me he always had time for everyone . My sincere condolences to all within his family grouping.
Heard only recently of John's passing but was lucky to have a catch up with him at a school reunion, now a few years past , in Kilkenny. We (his class mates) often relied on John to concoct or invent diversions to distract and defuse teachers when tensions were running high. He rarely disappointed! What an extraordinarily brilliant mind. My thoughts with his family. Percy Deacon.
So sorry to hear of John's passing. We in Meath West were lucky to benefit from his experience and good will, as well as much practical help with setting up the branch of the Social Democrats. John was very generous with his time. He will be greatly missed. Frances & Ronan
Sorry to hear of the passing of John. May he rest in peace.

To Kathleen and family, Nora, John, Conor and Ferghail, we wish to express our deepest sympathy to you on the loss of John. His loss is also felt within his political family. John's mind and ambition for a better country remained as active and determined right to the end. He cared about people and how they lived their lives and did all he could to help bring that change about. A life well lived.
Dear Kathleen and Nora Our deepest sympathy to you both and to John, Conor and Fearghal on John’s passing RIP Sending love and caring thoughts to you at this sad and difficult time.
Sincere sympathy to the King family.
A wonderful smart, kind and open minded man. My colleagues and I worked with John in the latter years of his career. He was highly thought of by all of us. We all hear condescension and criticism all around us. I never once heard John say a sharp or bad word about anybody despite, I am sure, many workplace frustrations quietly held. A true gentleman.
My heartfelt sympathies to the family of John on his recent passing. I was a trade union sister to John and met him again more recently at the memory clinic in Navan. Rest in peace brother.

I met you at the time of your illness and I read later of your hospitalization but all the same the news of your passing away was a shock. You were a most public spirited man with no interest in personal gain that the community will be at a loss as your conversation will be a loss to myself on the bus on the street. Farewell.
