I’m so sorry I couldn't be with you all for Uncle John's funeral.

My Mam is heartbroken. Her only brother. She adored him. She always spoke so proudly about him.

I remember Uncle John as a quiet, hardworking man, much like my Grandad Pierce. He was a gentleman who adored his family.

His smooth, deep, amazing voice singing 'Ol' Man River' in Galtymore Road is a treasured memory. This song became his trademark - he'd sing it at every gathering.

Growing up, we’d great times in Peters Road and Dowland Road. In later years, the chats and the craic (and of course a little Guinness!) in Curracloe with Aunty Rosaleen and Uncle John are memories I'll always cherish. Such fun times.

I'm thinking of Aunty Rosaleen, Susann, John, Peter, Emma, his grandchildren, great grandchild, and all his friends. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May John rest in eternal peace.
