I knew John years ago in the hospital my father was a frequent patient in there and John was always so kind at letting us in to visit him maybe when we shouldnt have been .He was a gentleman .He will always be remembered with kindness.

John was the pilar of St Michael’s for many years in fact the first person I met in 1965 . Perfect gentleman ,, with his gentle voice and smile for everyone . May He Rest in Peace

As a former nurse who trained in St. Michael’s in the early ‘70s & worked there until the early’90s.
I remember John as a kind gentleman. I picture him in my mind’s eye behind the front desk in the porch of the hospital. He was invariably smiling & always so pleasant.
There was a competition in the ‘80s when an anonymous journalist visited hospitals to find out how helpful the head porters of each hospital were & John came runners up to the Mater hospital porter. We all knew he was robbed- he should’ve come first. I also remember when his beloved grandson Peter died so tragically young- John was inconsolable.
